Philosophy & Open Source
Do you only work with open-source software?▾
No. Open source is our preferred route – for its transparency, security and longevity. Where it makes sense, we also use or integrate proprietary software, always with a focus on usefulness and sustainability.
Why is open source important to you?▾
Open source strengthens self-determination and repairability. It reduces dependencies and makes it possible to use devices for longer – key levers against e-waste.
What does 'Right to Repair' mean to you?▾
We advocate for repairable hardware, documented processes and available spare parts. This extends the lifespan of devices and preserves resources.
Operating Systems & Software
Do you only work with Linux, or also Windows and macOS?▾
We work exclusively with Linux and open-source software. We don't install proprietary operating systems (Windows/macOS). Very rarely we make exceptions when a goal demonstrably can't be achieved with open-source tools.
Do you recommend Linux for everyone?▾
Linux is our standard because it's resource-friendly, secure and sustainable. If proprietary tools are absolutely required, we evaluate alternatives – and discuss rare exceptions openly.
Do you support migration to Linux or open-source alternatives?▾
Yes. From pilot projects to full roll-out, we guide individuals, nonprofits and businesses – including training and ongoing support.
Repair & Services
Do you repair devices that weren't bought from you?▾
Yes. We repair laptops, PCs and peripherals from a wide range of manufacturers – regardless of where they were purchased.
Do you repair Apple devices?▾
Hardware, yes – provided spare parts are available and a repair makes sense. OS installations are Linux-only; we don't install macOS or Windows.
How long do repairs take, and what do they cost?▾
That depends on the fault and the parts needed. We'll provide a quote on request and keep you fully informed of your options.
Do you offer data recovery and secure data erasure?▾
Yes. We recover data to the best of our ability and securely erase storage media on request using recognised standards (e.g. open-source tools).
Can I just drop in without an appointment?▾
Absolutely. For complex cases or business appointments, a quick message in advance is helpful.
Sustainability & E-Waste
How do you concretely reduce e-waste?▾
Through repairs, component reuse, refurbishing and responsible recycling. We also advise on long-lasting setups and resource-efficient software.
Do you accept old devices?▾
Yes, provided reuse or responsible recycling is possible. We inspect devices on the spot and decide transparently whether they'll be reused or dismantled.
Do you use second-hand spare parts?▾
Where technically sensible, we use tested second-life parts. That saves resources and can cut costs – with no compromise on function.
Why refurbished instead of new?▾
Refurbished devices extend useful life, save CO₂ and raw materials. With the right upgrades, they're often more than good enough – at fair prices.

Do you stock refurbished devices?▾
Yes. We offer carefully checked and refurbished devices with warranty – transparently documented.
What is the REVAMPED certification?▾
REVAMPED marks sustainable, repairable builds with documented provenance, clear upgrade paths and quality assurance.
Is there a warranty on your devices?▾
Yes. Refurbished devices come with a warranty. We state the details transparently for each product.
Data & Privacy
How do you handle my data during repairs?▾
Confidentially and minimally. We only access data when needed for diagnosis, and protect storage media technically and organisationally.
Do you offer certified data erasure?▾
We offer secure erasure procedures with a record. Just let us know what level of security you need.
Workshops & Involvement
Do you offer workshops or training?▾
Yes. Topics include: Linux introduction, repair basics, sustainable IT, open-source tools – for beginners through to advanced users.
How can I get involved or support you?▾
As a volunteer, partner or donor. Sharing your knowledge is also very welcome – together we create real impact.
